Abandoned Dog Tied To A Bench Hopes His Family Would Soon Return For Him

One such painful story is about Gordough, a sweet dog who was left devastated after his owners cruelly abandoned him, tying him to a bench in a public park.
Just imagine the heartbreak this loyal pup felt watching the people he trusted the most walk away, leaving him behind with no intention of returning.
Despite the pain, Gordough clung to hope. He kept staring down the path, waiting for his owners to come back — but they never did.
Still, even with his spirit wounded, he held onto the belief that someone kind would notice him and offer him the warmth and care he longed for.

When the team from the Austin Humane Society in Texas arrived at the park, they found a massive Pit Bull mix tied to the bench, his eyes silently pleading for help.
The moment they saw him, they knew he was in rough shape.
“He was covered in crust from top to bottom. His skin and eyes were badly infected, and he needed urgent medical care, including medicated baths and special ointments,” shared the 15/10 Foundation on Facebook.
Despite the pain he was in, Gordough’s spirit lifted the moment he saw the rescuers. His tail began wagging with joy as they walked toward him.
As they gently petted his head, the dog – now named Gordough – knew these people were there to save him. He looked at them with eyes full of trust and thankfulness as they unfastened his leash.
Healing Begins with Compassion

Gordough was immediately taken to the shelter, where he quickly captured everyone’s hearts.
“He’s a big boy, weighing about 115 pounds, but he’s incredibly gentle and sweet,” the Austin Humane Society wrote on Instagram.
His caretakers gave him a soothing bath and began treating his infected skin with various creams and drops. Gordough was calm and cooperative, sensing that these people were trying to help him.

The shelter staff showered him with affection, offering him comfort and hugs. The once-neglected dog blossomed under their love and attention.
Gordough began to smile — truly smile — for the first time in a long while.

Finally, Gordough could relax and enjoy some much-needed rest.
“Gordough is like a real-life version of a happy reclining Buddha statue. His calm and cheerful presence is a true inspiration to couch potatoes everywhere,” joked the nonprofit in an update shared on Facebook.
From Neglect to a New Beginning
His touching story spread quickly across social media, capturing the hearts of animal lovers everywhere.
That’s when the 15/10 Foundation, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles that helps shelter dogs in need, stepped in to cover all of Gordough’s medical costs.
Thanks to their generous support, Gordough was able to receive the full treatment he needed to heal.

Soon after his recovery began, Gordough was placed in a foster home. His temporary caregivers fell in love with his gentle nature and soon realized that he wasn’t just a guest — he was family.

Gordough now spends his days cuddling with his forever family, playing with his favorite toys, and napping in cozy corners of his home.
