Compassionate Foster Dad Gives Legless Puppy a Second Chance at Life

Born Without Front Legs, Nubby Beat the Odds Thanks to a Family Who Refused to Give Up on Him

Nubby entered the world facing tremendous challenges — born without his front legs, his first hours of life were already a struggle. At just four hours old, a veterinarian recommended putting him down, a devastating suggestion so early in his journey.

But Nubby’s future was about to take a hopeful turn.

Life didn’t start easy for the tiny pup. Without front legs, Nubby had difficulty reaching his mother to nurse, and his littermates unintentionally pushed him aside. He wasn’t getting the nourishment he needed to survive.

The vet’s suggestion to end his life hung heavily in the air, especially considering he had barely lived for half a day.

That’s when Lou Robinson, a kind-hearted woman from Texas known for rescuing abandoned and orphaned animals, stepped in with her husband Mark. They saw something special in Nubby and chose to give him a fighting chance.

Ignoring the vet’s advice, Lou and Mark took Nubby into their home, where they lovingly bottle-fed and nurtured him through those critical early days, staying by his side through every moment.

At first, Nubby thrived under their care. His senses developed—his ears and eyes began to grow, and he started responding to the world around him by sniffing, barking, and reacting to sound, Lou recalled.

But Nubby’s path wasn’t without hurdles.

About a month later, he began sneezing and had trouble passing stool. A trip to the vet revealed a problem with his esophagus, adding another layer of concern to his already fragile health.

Despite the new diagnosis, Nubby’s strength and will to live never wavered. He pushed through his pain with remarkable bravery, just as his foster parents continued to support him unconditionally.

Thankfully, Nubby’s condition slowly improved. Now, three years later, he has grown into a resilient, joyful dog who proves every day that perseverance pays off.

Today, Nubby serves as a beacon of hope, showing the world that disabilities don’t define us. He even has his own Facebook page, where fans from around the world follow his inspiring progress.

Recent photos show Nubby at his happiest—stronger than ever and full of energy. He loves to play and explore, and with the help of a small wheelchair, he gets around with ease and excitement.

Nubby’s life reminds us that being different is something to embrace, not fear. He is living proof that miracles happen when compassion meets determination.

And it’s thanks to Lou and Mark’s unwavering love that Nubby’s remarkable journey continues to inspire so many.
