Woman’s Attempt to Test Date’s Generosity Takes Unexpected Turn

A woman’s attempt to test her blind date’s generosity took an unexpected turn when her plan backfired in spectacular fashion. Hoping to assess her date’s willingness to share, she decided to bring along 23 family members, thinking it would be a clever way to gauge his character. However, things quickly went awry.
The woman’s plan was flawed from the start. Her date, Mr. Lui, had planned to impress her by treating her and her family to a meal at one of his favorite restaurants. But when he arrived, he was shocked to find not only the woman, but her entire extended family, totaling 23 people. Understandably, Mr. Lui was taken aback at the prospect of covering the bill for such a large group, creating a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere.

The incident took place in a restaurant in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, as reported by the Taizhou Evening News. While the woman’s intentions were to assess her date’s willingness to provide for her family, her execution left much to be desired, especially since it was their first blind date.
As the meal unfolded, it became clear that Mr. Lui was not prepared to accept the woman’s “test” of generosity. Rather than diplomatically handling the situation, he made a quick exit, leaving the woman to handle the consequences alone. The bill came to a staggering 20,000 yuan (around $3,100), which she was left to pay entirely — an unfortunate outcome for her misguided plan.
Despite the awkwardness, the woman’s frustration led her to file a lawsuit against Mr. Lui. However, the court ruled that he should only contribute 1,400 yuan of the bill.
In hindsight, the woman’s attempt to measure her date’s generosity not only failed but also resulted in a costly lesson. While her intentions may have been to test his character, this situation serves as a reminder that honesty and communication are essential in any relationship. Rather than resorting to elaborate tests, trust and open dialogue are key to building a solid foundation between two people.
