The tiny puppy, weak and crying alone, was abandoned on a hill at night, facing a desperate and heartbreaking situation.

This 20-day-old puppy was found abandoned on a mountainside near Chanis, Panama, barely able to stand.
Covered in flies, lice, fleas, and numerous sores, her health was critical when rescuers discovered her. She barely moved, struggled to breathe, and kept her eyes shut most of the time.

She spent the entire day at Veterinary Paws & Footprints in Chanis, where staff checked on her every two hours. Weighing only 0.66 kg (1.45 lbs), this tiny pup needed multiple injections throughout the day.

Because she was unable to eat, her blood sugar levels dropped dangerously low, requiring another blood transfusion—a difficult procedure, especially for such a fragile little one. Hearing her soft cries in the middle of the night was heartbreaking.
Despite proper feeding, her anemia didn’t improve, so the veterinarian recommended repeating the transfusions multiple times.

Even with the transfusions, her hematocrit levels remained low, showing that her body wasn’t regenerating blood cells on its own.
The next day, thanks to the transfusion, her hemoglobin rose from 3.0 to 4.5, platelets from 28 to 84, and hematocrit from 12 to 16—enough progress for baby Amor to be discharged from the hospital.

After two days under care, Baby Amor became calmer and stopped crying through the nights. She still returns to the hospital each morning for careful observation and monitoring.
In the afternoons, volunteers spend time playing with her, providing affection that boosts her emotional well-being.

A week later, Amor began eating small amounts of ProPlan canned puppy food. Although her appetite is still growing, she is also given water and malt extract—a high-iron supplement—every two hours.
Her heart beats stronger than her frail body. As her wounds start healing, the itchiness under her bandages begins to bother her. Yet, this tiny fighter refuses to give up; she battles every challenge and continues to stand, begging life for another chance.
