Maggie has made remarkable progress, transforming into a therapy dog, a true testament to her journey and her new role in helping others heal.

After Being Shot 17 Times, Pregnant Maggie Survives, Finds a Forever Home, and Becomes a Registered Therapy Dog

Maggie, a 5-year-old dog, is nothing short of a miracle given the unimaginable hardships she has endured to survive.

Her incredible journey began in Lebanon, where she was found tied to a box, missing an ear, with a fractured jaw. Despite being pregnant, Maggie was brutally tortured and shot 17 times with a shotgun, which left her completely blind.

Her heartbreaking story caught attention when someone in Lebanon posted a plea for help on social media. A compassionate woman in London saw the post and contacted The Wild At Heart Foundation to intervene. Maggie was rescued but faced multiple surgeries and treatments before she could be put up for adoption.

Eventually, Maggie found her forever home in Brighton, England, with Kasey Carlin, 25, who devoted herself full-time to caring for Maggie and managing her inspiring Instagram account, where she has gained over 248,000 followers.

Kasey shared with Bored Panda, “Maggie has taught me and many others invaluable lessons. She reminds us every day not to judge a book by its cover, that love conquers all, to be humble, to live life fully, to serve others, and that happiness is something we create ourselves. If you believe, you can achieve anything.”

Today, Maggie is a certified therapy dog, bringing calm and joy to hospitals, nursing homes, and colleges. She has touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and resilience.

At home, Maggie is adored not only by Kasey but also by Mishka, Kasey’s other dog. Kasey reflects, “When I decided to foster Maggie, it was because no one else would. I’m so proud that she can now share such a powerful message with the world.”
