Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve sugar in 1 cup warm water. In a separate small bowl, mix yeast, ½ cup flour, and ½ cup warm water. Let sit for about 20 minutes until frothy.
- In a medium bowl, combine 2½ cups flour, cornmeal, and salt.

- Shape the crust: Press half of the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a lightly greased deep dish pan.
