We received a heartbreaking report about seven animals trapped in a dire situation. By the time rescuers arrived, only two remained: a mother dog and her loyal pup. The others had already succumbed to starvation.
The mother dog was chained, unable to defend her little ones or even flee. Now she lay there, wasting away—her only source of comfort, her devoted puppy. What happened between them during the rescue was one of the most emotional scenes we’ve ever witnessed.
Despite his young age, the puppy kept trying to nudge his mom up, as if willing her to stand. He even positioned himself in front of her as if to shield her from harm. We didn’t know whether she’d make it, but her puppy refused to leave her side. It was heartbreaking—and infuriating. This neglect is nothing short of criminal, and those responsible should be held accountable.
We rushed both to the veterinary clinic. They were in critical condition from severe malnutrition. The first thing we did was offer them food, and they devoured it hungrily—it was likely their first real meal in days.

Three days later, despite every effort to save her, Arizona passed away. The grief we felt was overwhelming. But no one felt it more deeply than Texas, who cried for her the moment she left this world. Witnessing their separation tore us apart.
Shortly after, Texas began to show signs of illness. He was diagnosed with suspected pneumonia and immediately started treatment. But he still needed further tests—bloodwork, x-rays, and continuous care. After all he’s been through, all we wanted now was for him to finally have peace and happiness.
Texas endured horrors no animal should ever experience. He watched his siblings die from hunger. Even as he suffered himself, he chose to stay beside his mother until her final breath. He is a fighter. A survivor. But he’s also just a pup.
This little warrior deserves a home filled with joy and love. He has a gentle heart, learns quickly—he’s already mastered “sit”—and adores people and other dogs. His health is improving day by day, and we remain hopeful that he’ll make a full recovery.
A month passed, and we have beautiful news: Texas, now called Chico, has found his forever family! His new mom gave him his sweet name, and he now lives in a house filled with flowers, affection, and endless cuddles.
We wish Chico a future full of light and happiness. Life has finally turned around for him, and we believe that somewhere, Arizona is watching proudly, knowing her son is safe and loved at last.
