A lost and disoriented dog found on the street with a swollen face sparks concern, prompting urgent efforts to help.

Pauline, a dog found wandering the streets, was suffering from a severely swollen face that caused her immense pain and fear.

When rescuers from Animal Aid Unlimited approached her, Pauline was writhing in agony and too frightened to let anyone come near.

Recognizing the urgency of her condition, a rescuer carefully covered her eyes with a blanket, gently captured her, and brought her to the rescue van. At the hospital, Pauline was terrified but was quickly sedated by the veterinarian for a thorough examination.

They discovered a festering wound on her throat infested with maggots—these parasites were not only causing the severe swelling but were eating away at her tissue, slowly and painfully threatening her life.

The veterinary team immediately treated Pauline with medication to kill the maggots and performed a painstaking wound cleaning procedure. Now free of maggots, her healing process could begin.

Amazingly, Pauline’s swelling began to subside within just three days! Weeks later, she was fully healed and joyfully running around the sanctuary, a true testament to her resilience.

Although her treatment was difficult to witness, the dedication and skill of the rescue team and veterinarians saved Pauline’s life and restored her spirit.
