A Cry for Help: The Rescue of Two Abandoned Kittens

In the Philippines, Maruja Daine Valdez, the owner of Tiny Pets, a pet supply shop, was inspecting a roof leak when a faint, persistent sound caught her attention. Stepping outside, she discovered a cardboard box placed near her store. Inside, two tiny kittens huddled together, their eyes crusted shut and their bodies trembling from fear and cold.

Despite warnings from passersby that the kittens might be feral, Valdez approached them with compassion. To her relief, the kittens were not aggressive but merely frightened and in desperate need of comfort. Gently, she gathered them up and brought them into her shop.

Recognizing the severity of their condition, Valdez and her partner, both with veterinary experience, provided immediate care. The kittens were dehydrated, infested with fleas and parasites, and suffering from eye infections. Yet, despite their ordeal, they displayed remarkable resilience and trust.

After administering necessary treatments, including cleaning their eyes and providing nourishment, the kittens began to recover. They ate heartily and slept peacefully, their bodies finally able to rest and heal.

Currently residing at Valdez’s other establishment, Lucky Paws, a pet boarding facility, the kittens continue to receive daily care and supervision. As they regain their strength, their playful personalities begin to emerge, bringing joy to those around them.

Valdez has committed to covering all their needs, including vaccinations and spay surgeries, ensuring they receive the care they deserve. The kittens’ journey from abandonment to recovery is a testament to the power of compassion and the difference one person’s actions can make in the life of an animal in need.
