My Ex Ruined My Day at Work, So I Brilliantly Took Revenge the Same Day
Miranda, a hardworking young Mexican woman, had faced her fair share of challenges. After a painful and public breakup with her ex, Colin, she had thrown herself into her job at a local restaurant, determined to rebuild her life. But when Colin and his new girlfriend, Leslie, showed up at her workplace one day, Miranda’s world was turned upside down once again.
The day started badly when Miranda arrived late to work, still reeling from the emotional toll of her breakup. Her boss, Michael, gave her a stern warning. “Miranda, what happens in your life is your thing, but it’s a problem for me if it messes with your work. This is your final warning,” he said.
Miranda promised to do better, but her resolve was tested when she spotted Colin and Leslie sitting at one of her tables. She begged Michael to let someone else serve them, but he insisted she stay professional. “We all have tough stuff to deal with, Miranda. I need you to do your job, not run away,” he said firmly.
Reluctantly, Miranda approached the table, only to be met with cruel jokes and insults. “Look who we have here, Miranda, serving tables. I guess people from your background really do find their calling in the service industry, huh?” Colin sneered.
Miranda tried to stay composed, but things escalated when Colin deliberately dropped his fork, forcing her to pick it up. Leslie laughed loudly, clapping and mocking her. “Look at Miranda! She’s good at picking things up!” she jeered.
The humiliation didn’t stop there. When Miranda brought their order—a Mexican stew—Colin complained it wasn’t spicy enough and flipped his plate, spilling the food all over her. As Leslie laughed and the other customers stared, Miranda felt her confidence shatter. She rushed to the kitchen, tears streaming down her face.
There, she found solace in Chef Robert, who handed her a kitchen towel and offered words of encouragement. “You’re stronger than you think, Miranda. You’ve got a spirit that’s much bigger than the problems you’re facing,” he said.
Feeling a glimmer of hope, Miranda opened up to Robert about her past with Colin. She recounted how Colin and Leslie had betrayed her during their college days, tricking her into attending a party that led to her public humiliation and expulsion. The memory of their cruelty fueled her determination to stand up for herself.
“Robert, can you help me? Make their food super spicy, just once?” Miranda pleaded.
Though hesitant, Robert agreed. Miranda prepared a special spicy sauce, and Robert discreetly added it to Colin and Leslie’s meal. When the dish arrived, Leslie mocked it once more. “This is spicy? This is what you called a SPICY Mexican stew?” she sneered.
But the real surprise came when Colin wiped his mouth with the spicy-soaked napkin Miranda had provided. His face turned bright red, and he gasped for air, drawing the attention of everyone in the restaurant. Leslie, embarrassed by the scene, stormed out, leaving Colin to face the consequences alone.
Colin demanded Miranda be fired, but Michael stepped in. After tasting the stew and finding it perfectly fine, he defended Miranda. “This dish is perfectly fine, sir. There’s nothing wrong with it,” he said, subtly hiding the spicy napkin. “Miranda’s been with us for a long time. She wouldn’t mess up a meal on purpose.”
As Colin looked around for support, he found none. Michael offered him some parting advice: “Sometimes the heat comes not from the food but from how we act towards others. Maybe think about that, okay?”
Miranda watched the scene unfold with quiet satisfaction. She had stood up to her bullies in a clever and dignified way, and in doing so, she had found strength she didn’t know she had. Michael’s support reminded her that even in the toughest times, there are people who care.
