Mom of Black and White Twin Boys Gets the Same Question Everywhere She Goes: “Which One Is Yours?”

When 31-year-old Nigerian mother Stacy gave birth to twin boys in February, she never expected her family would become the subject of worldwide curiosity and joy. Her sons, Daniel and David, may be twins—but their appearance couldn’t be more different.

Born just minutes apart, one of the twins has dark skin and black curly hair like their older sister, while the other has snow-white skin and golden curls. That’s because David was born with albinism—a rare genetic condition that affects only 1 in 20,000 births.

A Beautiful Surprise in the Delivery Room

Stacy and her husband, Babajide, had no idea what was coming. Their prenatal scans revealed no signs of the dramatic contrast they were about to witness.

“We had no clue during the pregnancy,” Stacy shared. “It was a huge surprise when Daniel came out with black hair, and then David followed with golden hair. Even the doctors were stunned.”

As medical staff gathered in amazement, Stacy could only marvel at the uniqueness of her boys. Her husband, completely taken aback by the sight of their pale-skinned son, lovingly nicknamed him “Mr. Golden.”

“He just stood there staring, saying it was God’s wonderful work,” she recalled. “He told me they are the best gift we’ve ever received.”

Understanding Albinism

David’s striking appearance is due to oculocutaneous albinism—a condition that causes a lack of melanin in the skin, hair, and eyes. Though albinism can affect anyone, regardless of race, it is rare and comes with a set of health considerations, including sensitivity to sunlight and potential vision issues. Thankfully, David is healthy and thriving.

Nigeria is home to over two million people with albinism, one of the highest rates in the world. Unfortunately, many within this community face discrimination and challenges in school and the workplace. Stacy hopes their family’s visibility will challenge these stigmas.

Raising Awareness and Sharing Joy

Despite their physical differences, Stacy says Daniel and David are loved equally and unconditionally. “No one has ever said anything negative to me about them,” she said. “But when we go out, people can’t help but stop and stare—they just want to know more.”

That curiosity led the family to open an Instagram account dedicated to the twins’ journey. In just one year, they’ve attracted nearly 18,000 followers, and modeling agencies from the UK have already taken notice.

Stacy says both boys have unique personalities. “Daniel is the playful, expressive foodie. David is more reserved and observant, always watching before joining in. They’re both energetic and very curious.”

A Story Worth Sharing

Stacy hopes their growing platform will bring more understanding and support to people living with albinism. “We created the account to raise awareness,” she explained. “We know they have a story worth telling.”

If you’ve been touched by this incredible family’s story, don’t keep it to yourself—SHARE it with friends and family and help spread awareness about albinism and the beauty of diversity.
